We signed the Guppy up for the Little Passports “boxes” and it’s safe to say that she has already gotten very excited about it. I put box in quotes because only the first package comes in a box. The monthly packages from each country come in envelopes.
The premise is clever. Each month, your child gets a package from two children – Sam and Sophia – who are traveling the globe. Each package is from a different country, includes pictures and a souvenir from the country, and a letter from Sam and Sophia talking about the country. There is also an activity booklet; one of the activities gives a clue as to where Sam and Sophia will go next. The first package includes a suitcase, passport, and world map, and there are stickers for the passport and the map included each month as well.
Dad’s Take: I like this box. It has the Guppy interested in the world beyond our neighborhood. She is excited to learn and this box facilitates that. She wants to find out more about where Sam and Sophia are, and that leads to discussions of other languages, cultures, foods, and people. We have a globe in the house, and between that and the map, we’ve spent time looking at the world around us a lot more lately. I also like that she is learning about different countries. The souvenirs are fun, and the pictures of different animals and places are exciting for her. Most of all, she loves the activities, and the pages until the weekend before she finishes everything.
Conclusion The only thing that I feel this box is missing is a craft. Otherwise, it’s a very strong product and I strongly recommend it. The Guppy really loves it as well; when we were talking about Little Passports for this review, she started asking for the next package. This is a great way to instill a love of travel, and teach your children about other places.
