Yesterday was Memorial Day, a day when, in the US, we remember those who we sent overseas and who didn’t make it home. And recently, I have been asked to donate to no less than three different golf tournaments to benefit soldiers who are returning home and who need help – physical or mental care, homes, job training … the list goes on. And it has reached the point that I am tired of seeing it. Continue reading I Hate Wounded Warrior Project
Angelfish left for work, and I took care of the kids. That’s not unusual; we’ve done it before. This time, however, I took two days off to spend with them. I was supposed to relax, enjoy my kids, and not do any work. I kept a running log of my thoughts. This my log from Thursday. Continue reading Two Days (Part 1)
We took Guppy and Minnow to a carnival that one of the local camps was hosting. It was a pretty good time, and there was a cute bounce activity that was supposed to be like “Hungry Hungry Hippo.” This part, however, wasn’t very well-supervised, and four other kids got on with her (there were only four slots). They all started throwing balls around and one threw one right at Guppy, hitting her on the head. This little girl’s mother, and her friend, were standing at the side, and saw it happen … Then they laughed. Guppy wasn’t hurt, but it was something that she knew was very rude.
Guppy likes what she likes, which, if I am going to be honest, rarely overlaps with what I like. Our tastes are very different. She watches a lot of YouTube videos, listens to music that I simply cannot appreciate (because it sucks …it sucks so very much), and I like other things. There are a couple of TV shows that we have been able to share together though (such as Teen Titans Go). One of them is one from my childhood. It’s the Animaniacs, which may be the very best cartoon ever.
Guppy volunteered to make her mother breakfast in bed for Mother’s Day. It’ll be easy, she figured. She had gotten a pancake mix from her most recent Foodstirs box, and she would just make that. Easy, peasy, and I would only need to help a little bit, making her mother’s tea and supervising. Maybe I would have to keep Minnow out of her way. She was going to make breakfast for her mother.
