Guppy’s school is doing something for the kindergartners this year that is a lot of fun. The school challenged them to read 2015 books in six weeks. If they succeed, they get a pajama/sundae party at the school … on a Sunday. Guppy is very excited by this and has made it her personal mission to read 100 books. She wants to earn the party. As part of the reading curriculum at Guppy’s school, students are asked to take books out and write a letter to the teacher about what they’ve read. Guppy wanted to submit this review.
It’s a little bit old, but a 9 year old boy was suspended from school a week or so ago. He was suspended because he threatened to use the One Ring on another student. But that’s not what interested me. What struck me about the story is that this was the kid’s THIRD suspension; his first two were for bringing in a book, and for calling a child “black.” I had to know more about the book.
